What hardware do I need to run Adobe Premiere Pro?

Premiere Pro is the industry standard for video editing. It has lots of tools to make you more productive such as AI based auto captioning.

The minimum specification of Premiere Pro is:

A more realistic specification would be a 12 series Core i7 at a minimum with 16 Gb of RAM. I would recommend the latest Core i7 or i9 CPUs.

Whilst 16 Gb DDR4 will work. You should consider 32 Gb DDR5 to be a good starting point. ACL Core i7 PCs have 4 DIMM Slots so if you order 32 Gb RAM you will still have 2 slots free for expansion.

Storage is a big consideration here. You need at least a 1 Tb Samsung 990 Pro and a motherboard that can support it's high speed. Look for a board that has a heatsink for the m.2.

Secondly you need a second storage area for your work. A second 4 Tb Samsung 990 would be a good choice. If you choose a motherboard with 2 fast 16X PCIEs you can use a 4 slot m.2 RAID card also.

If you're on a budget you could use a standard 512 Gb m.2 and two 1 Tb SSD cards in RAID 0.

Ideally you could have 3 storage groups - one for the OS, a scratch disk for media cache etc and a third drive for your project work.

Once your work is finished consider at least 2 hard drives in a mirror array with backup to the cloud and an external device.

GPU grunt is important here for a laptop look at an integrated 4060. Anything above this spec will output too much heat making the laptop unreliable.

For a PC the minimum I would recommend is the GeForce 3060Ti. The Intel A770 is another good budget choice. For 4k work the GeForce 4070Ti is a good option.

We're available most Fridays for a free in-shop consultation. Please book in advance to avoid disappointment. We can run through different configurations to match your budget.

(If you're just starting out, consider Cyberlink's Powerdirector. It can run on a 4 series core i7 and 2060 GPU (3060 or higher for AI))
